James Dudick, the CFO for the National Carpatho-Rusyn Society (C-RS) underwrote an exclusive soiree for the Society in the Library at the Duquesne Club, downtown Pittsburgh on Saturday, November 3. His goal was to highlight the C-RS Cultural and Education Center at the corner of Dickson Street and 10th Avenue in Munhall, a Pittsburgh History and Landmarks designated building, and raise funds for its rehabilitation. Dudick has established an initial benchmark of $100,000, and with the generous financial support of Helen Warholic Timo and John Timo, is almost there! In addition, Dudick launched the “Buy a Brick” campaign to sell 1,000 ceramic and bronze-ceramic bricks as permanent Cultural Center memorials. Andrea Leone, Board Secretary is the C-RS interface for the campaign. There were 86 in attendance including Tina Soley and her mother Christina, who are relatives of the late Andy Warhol, a well-known Carpatho-Rusyn. Dudick is a retired co-owner of Cooperman & Dudick for 20 years, Financial Advisors and Underwriters of Municipal Bonds. The festivities continued the following day at the Cultural Center where an historical event took place. Gregory Zhatkovych's children, Connie Zatkovich Ash and Theodore Zatkovich donated artifacts and a portrait of their father. He was the first Governor of Subcarpathian Rus' in 1919. As fate would have it, by coincidence, Ted and Connie had childhood memories of running back and forth from their Squirrel Hill home to their adjacent neighbor’s home at 125 Westland Drive, the mailing address of C-RS. Presently, this home is owned by Lois Hrabar Liberman, Financial Administrator of C-RS. Also, Liberman is a relative of Konstanyn Hrabar, the third governor of Subcarpathian Rus' from 1935-1938.
