ABOUT OUR PROGRAM: The Lake Erie Chapter of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society is pleased to present well-known genealogist Lisa Alzo. Lisa was so amazed at her own family roots that she wrote a book on the stories of her grandmother, mother and herself. Lisa is now the author of 6 books: "Three Slovak Women; Baba's Kitchen: Slovak & Rusyn Family Recipes and Traditions; Finding your Slovak Ancestors; Pittsburgh's Immigrants; Slovak Pittsburgh; and Sports Memories of Western Pennsylvania. An avid genealogist for 17 years, Lisa has published many articles in Ancestry Magazine and others; she currently teaches online genealogy courses for GenClass.com and the National Institute for Genealogical Studies. She has received top recognition by the Association for Women in Slavic Studies for her scholarly achievements. Her expert advice will help us find our families of Carpatho-Rusyns, Slovaks, Ukrainians, and other nationalities in Eastern Europe.

Two other people with cultural vision will share their many talents. Nancy Kelly and Carpatho-Rusyn Society founding member Jerry Jumba are working on a dictionary, with years of work soon to be completed.

Group celebration has always been central in the lives of our ancestors, and our festivities feature Erie's own Ruska Slava - Rusyn Glory! and master/teacher Jerry Jumba to make you proud of our heritage!
