The Incredible Journey: Eastern Europeans of Northeast Pennsylvania, a three-part documentary, focuses on the East European immigrant groups who settled in Northeastern Pennsylvania at the beginning of the 20th Century to work in the region’s coal mines.   A short video that will be shown before the featured film, details the experiences of immigrants as they leave rural regions of Poland to reach the port of Hamburg where they are housed before continuing on their journey to the United States.  These people, our ancestors, left family members and possessions behind to face the risks of settling in a new country and a life very different from what they knew.  The production includes personal accounts of immigrants and how cultural and historical events affected their lives.  Parts II and III of the film will be shown at a later date.  For further information, please send an e-mail to morrisinnj@gmail.com or call Carol Morrison at (201) 445-1598.

Directions: Take Route 46 to the Riverview Drive Exit in the direction of Wayne.
