Rusyn Language Study Group
“Getting Started With Rusyn"
A
Preliminary Meeting of the Rusyn Language Study Group
Presented by
Pat Onufrak
On
Sunday, May 18, from
2:00-4:00,
we will be having a preliminary meeting of the Rusyn
Language Study Group.
If you
are interested in learning Rusyn but are not yet familiar
with the Rusyn (Cyrillic) alphabet, this meeting is for you.
The
Rusyn Language Study Group will be getting underway this
summer, so join us now to get up to speed on reading and
writing the Rusyn alphabet.
If you
can already read Russian or Ukrainian, you may find that
this session covers very familiar territory, so you may wish
to wait for the summer sessions. However, if you need a
refresher or just want to come and enjoy the fun, you are
very welcome to join the beginners.
Leave
home your anxieties and concerns about learning Rusyn in a
group because we are determined to make this as stress-free
as possible. Cyrillic is not difficult to learn and it is a
lot of fun to write. So plan on joining us.
Contact Pat Onufrak at
rusynska@aol.com to express your interest
in attending this session. Please include information on any
prior foreign language experience and whether or not you
have any background with the Cyrillic alphabet.
Pat Onufrak has an M.A. in Russian Language and Literature
from the University of Toronto. She has tutored basic
Russian and, most recently, she received a certificate from
ProLiteracy America that qualifies her to tutor English as a
Second Language. She is currently practicing Spanish with
her ESL student, a 73-year-old Salvadoran.
