"Rusyn Immigrant Church
Life: The View from the local Parish Historian"
Rusyn church
life as chronicled by local parish historians provides a rich
body of photography, insight and perspectives which are not
available in general works on Byzantine Catholicism
and Orthodoxy in America. As these parishes are closed or
face other forms of decline, the estimated 600 published Rusyn
parish histories represent a precious record which should be
studied, appreciated and treasured. C-RS N.C. Chapter Board
Member John Schweich, who has been collecting these
histories since 1972, will provide some comments on Rusyn
immigrant religious developments drawn principally from a group
of largely anonymous parish chroniclers.
